　　摘 要：英国现实主义小说家弗吉尼亚?伍尔夫的意识流作品《达洛维夫人》(Mrs. Dalloway)叙述手法巧妙，线索清晰简洁。本文拟对文本展开进一步的讨论，从接受美学的角度比较《达洛维夫人》的两个中译本，以探索原文诗化语言的翻译技巧。 　　关键词：《达洛维夫人》；接受美学；诗化效果；意识流；节奏特征 　　一、绪论 　　《达洛维夫人》是英国小说家弗吉尼亚?伍尔夫意识流小说代表作之一。作者以诗化的、富有节奏感的语言描写了整个意识流动的过程，彰显独特风格。这也为该小说在国内的译介带来了一定的难度。 　　自80年代初，《达洛维夫人》共有一个节译本和四个全译本。笔者认为，孙梁、谷启楠和王家湘分别在意义的忠实度、文字的通达与美感及语序调整上造诣颇深，但与原文相比，文中的诗化的节奏感并没能很好的体现出来。R. L. Chambers在“弗吉尼亚?伍尔夫的小说”中写道：措辞、韵律、词汇、纯粹的声音，都与这（意识流）密切相关。 　　笔者在分析了原文中诗化的艺术效果基础之上，比较了孙梁与王家湘的译本，结合接受美学中读者期待视野与隐含读者的基本观点，探讨译本在展示原作诗化效果时的优劣，并给出笔者自己的译文。 　　二、《达洛维夫人》中诗化效果的中译 　　《达洛维夫人》中的诗化效果主要体现在潺潺的意识流写作风格与绵延的节奏韵律特点两方面。 　　（一）意识流翻译的诗化效果 　　小说中女主人公的意识超越了时间和情节的界限，诗化且有节奏的语言贯穿了整部作品。意识流风格从某种程度来说与曲调的节奏感严密契合。不同人物间的意识也是多变的，从而使作品染上了浓厚的诗化节奏感与美感。 　　例1: ……in the triumph and the jingle and the strange high 　　singing… 　　一片喜洋洋的气氛，叮当的铃声，头顶上飞机发出奇异的尖啸声——这一切便是她热爱的：生活……（孙, p2） 　　在欢庆声、铃儿叮当声和天上飞机的奇特呼啸声中都有她之所爱。（王, p2） 　　这里出现了一系列的词组：in the triumph; the jingle; the strange high singing，作者使用了纵向的转换来使意识的描写更加顺畅。 　　根据读者的期待视野，他们期望看到的是无序状态下对诗化的节奏意识的梳理。孙梁的译本在综合结构上与王家湘相去甚远，缺少清晰与简洁感。王译中“欢庆声、铃儿叮当声和天上飞机的奇特呼啸声”不管在字数上，还是节奏感上都是与读者的期待是相契合的，呈递增趋势；而孙译中“一片喜洋洋的气氛，叮当的铃声”就显得冗长而无序了。 　　例2: 　　…So, thought Septimus, looking up, they are signaling to me. (Mrs. Dalloway, Virginia Woolf 1925: 22) 　　赛普蒂默斯抬头观望，心想，原来是他们在向我发信号哩。（孙, p19） 　　这样说来，赛普蒂默斯抬头看着天空，心里在想，他们是在向我示意呢。（王, p19） 　　例文中，第一句是从妻子的角度叙述的，然后转向了塞普蒂默斯。在角度转换之前，伍尔夫将一句话拆分成“So”, “thought Septimus” and “Septimus looked and thought, they are signaling to me”，以提示读者这里有角度转换。隐含读者以为，只有将原文中的这种诗意的停顿、转变和替换翻译出来，才能真正理解Septimus的内心的挣扎。 　　而谷启楠先生的译本则更符合读者的期待： 　　这么说，赛普蒂默斯一面想着一面望向天空——他们在给我发出指示呢。（谷, p26） 　　（二）节奏特点翻译的诗化效果 　　在不同的场景，伍尔夫用不同的活动描述了人物多变的意识状态。广义上来讲，在全小说舒缓、轻松而流畅的基调上，作者使用了各异的 节奏来产生强烈的对比效果。巴顿表示：翻译的第一策略就是当两种语言都很流畅时，你必须使用原文的写作风格。 　　例3: 　　…discreet old dowagers were shooting out in their motor cars on errands of mystery… (Mrs. Dalloway, Virginia Woolf 1925: 8) 　　…那些拥有遗产的谨慎的老寡妇…（孙, p3） 　　…小心谨慎的贵族遗孀们……（王, p3） 　　这段引文如果去掉助词、介词和冠词，就是动词与名词词组的组合。这种措辞方法在中国语言系统中是不存在的。因此，为了符合中国读者的期待视野，只能将之处理成字数上的工作。孙译中“拥有/遗产的/谨慎的/——老寡妇”修饰语字数相同，都为3，有连绵之效果；谷启楠先生的版本“谨慎的”, “上了年纪的”, “有钱的贵妇们”是呈递增趋势的：3-5-6；而王译中“小心谨慎的”和“贵族遗孀们”用词数相同，同为5.从行进式旋律来看，前者更符合隐含读者的期待视野。 　　再看一例（与例2相同）： 　　在这里，隐含读者期待看到的是一个受战争摧残殆尽，想要投入上帝怀抱，以求一死结束痛苦的可悲而又可怜的艺术形象。那么，诗化效果也只能通过原文中抑扬顿挫的停顿感表现出来。因此，从接受美学角度来看，后者更能展现庄严、激昂、悲剧化的场面，以缩小审美距离。 　　三、结语 　　在笔者看来，王译在措辞、句法和节奏处理上更符合中国读者的期待视野，我们可以看到很多的妙译、美译。而孙译更显达意，在句子衔接方面更加通顺与流畅。从接受美学理论角度来看，译者作为第一位读者，必须将自己置身文本中，深刻从译语读者的期待角度出发，以最大限度的考虑隐含读者的思考模式和文化差异，并尽最大努力缩小审美距离。 　　文学作品的翻译过程也可以说是一种跨文化交流过程。作为译者，适当的采用直译法、直译加注法、省译法和替代法等减小文化差异，满足接受美学下的读者期待视野，是具有重要意义的。 　　参考文献： 　　[1] R.
